President's Research Initiative

Each year the AANEM President chooses a topic for research for the AANEM annual meeting. Up to 10 abstracts submitted to the annual meeting on this topic may receive the President's Research Initiative Award. Award winners must be the first and presenting author. 

Deadline for Submission is March 15.

Award Subject and Criteria

Topic: "New Worlds, New Ways"

“Building on the plenary programs of the past several meeting which have focused on the new groundbreaking treatments for multiple neuromuscular diseases, we hope to look at the clinical progress of those treatments and the ethical challenges they present. And with the pandemic, hopefully looking forward at how we can better address care for your neuromuscular patients, along with the disparities in healthcare and for those who provide it.”

  • Innovation
  • Quality

Submission Guidelines and Eligibility Criteria

Submit an abstract between January 1 and March 15. During the application process, you will be asked if you plan to apply for the President's Research Initiative Award. To be eligible for this award, the recipients must be the first authors and the abstract presenters and must be present at the meeting to receive the financial award. 


Award Benefits

The President's Research Initiative Award recipients receive:
  • $500 cash
  • Abstract published in Muscle & Nerve
  • Recognition in the program book and at the AANEM Annual Meeting.
