American Neuromuscular Foundation/MDA Co-Funded Grants

A unique partnership between the American Neuromuscular Foundation (ANF) and the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) offers expanded funding opportunities for neuromuscular research. Neuromuscular research projects submitted to the MDA that fit within the ANF’s mission may be considered by the foundation for co-funding.

Both development and basic research grants are available.

Neuromuscular Development Grant Benefits

  • Up to $60,000/year for up to 3 years ($30,000 from the ANF and $30,000 from MDA)
  • $1,500 travel award to attend the AANEM Annual Meeting and present the research following completion of the project
  • Complimentary AANEM Annual Meeting registration in the year the research is presented
  • Complimentary AANEM membership during funding
 

Basic Research Grants Benefits

  • Up to $100,000/year for up to 3 years ($50,000 from the ANF and $50,000 from MDA)
  • $1,500 travel award to attend the AANEM Annual Meeting and present the research following completion of the project
  • Complimentary AANEM Annual Meeting registration in the year the research is presented
  • Complimentary AANEM membership during funding
 

Application Process & Eligibility

Submit proposals directly to the MDA via their submission timeline, guidelines, and online process. Proposals submitted through this process could be funded completely by the MDA or be considered for cofunding by the ANF and MDA. Notification of acceptance will be in the form of a joint letter from the ANF and the MDA.

 

Review Process

Neuromuscular research proposals relevant to foundation's mission are forwarded to the ANF Research Committee for review, and then approved by the ANF and MDA Boards.
