Best Abstract Award

The AANEM's Best Abstract Award is given to the first and presenting author of the best abstract submitted to the AANEM Annual Meeting.

Award Subject and Criteria

Original research topics involving therapeutics, diagnosis, management, or basic science relating to disorders of muscle and nerve are eligible for this award.  The criteria for this award include:

  • Excellent scientific merit
  • Well written, excellent discussion
  • Importance to association members

To be eligible for this award, the recipient must be the first author of the research, designated abstract presenter, and present at the AANEM Annual Meeting.

Submission Guidelines and Eligibility Criteria

Submit an abstract between January 1 and March 15. All abstracts submitted for the AANEM Annual Meeting will be considered for this award unless the authors indicate on the submission form that they do not wish to be considered.

Award Benefits

The Best Abstract Award winner receives:

  • Round-trip coach airfare up to $500 (U.S./Canada) or $1,000 (international)
  • Hotel accommodations (up to 3 nights) 
  • $500
  • Free AANEM Annual Meeting registration
  • Recognition in the annual meeting program and at the AANEM Annual Meeting
  • Abstract published in an issue of Muscle & Nerve

The Best Abstract Award runner-up receives:

  • $250
  • Free AANEM Annual Meeting registration
  • Recognition in the annual meeting program and at the AANEM Annual Meeting
  • Abstract published in an issue of Muscle & Nerve
